Thats by no means the only way to shoot landscapes, B&W for example is by its very nature not realistic.

Which is one reason most of them are so bad.

If 1000 bad amature atempts are needed to create one Ansel Adams or Robert Werling then I consider them a price worth paying.

Very few professional B&W shots are any good either. Maybe 1 in 1000 of those.

Whatever the percentage its a price worth paying for me, I mentioned amatures because thats the subject in hand and pretty much every professional landscape photographer has started off as one.

Theres certainly a great deal of value in realistic landscape photography with the photographers artistic input being only the choice of time, location and compisition but to view that as all the genre has to offer is I'd say to miss alot of its potential.

To me, the genre has very little potential anyway you slice it, and messing with the images to make them less realistic makes it even less potentially interesting.
