The root of the problem is exposure, the snow throw off the camera meter system causing problems.
If you shoot in raw and use lightroom then it a simple matter of changing the exposure. Normally by the time you get snow to be white the rest the color fall into place.
A second solution is to set your exposure compantion knob on the top of your camera to +1 or +2.

I have order a circular Polarizer for my g15 and plan to post some results. I am hopeful it help with snow and bright light,
