Seagate Thunderbolt adapter

Should anyone be be considering such a purchase, I just installed one of the somewhat overpriced ($155 at MicroCenter) Seagate Thunderbolt adapters and plugged a 2 tb WD Green drive into it. Preliminary results seem to indicate that copying data onto it will take about 3 hours. The same data copied to an identical drive over USB 2 took about 14 hours.
Really needs a factory provided spacer to keep the bare drive in position.
Test machine was a 2012 base spec 27"iMac.

One day long ago, a sorcerer and a warrior did battle, as such things were commonplace in that age. Sometimes the sorcerer won, and the sum value of human abilities was improved some trifling amount. Sometimes the warrior won, and again the human race improved by some insignificant amount, for a sorcerer who can't defeat one miserable warrior is a poor sorcerer indeed.
