Center performance may look better, but in general MTF levels are generally higher on smaller sensors with more densely packed pixels. So a 12 mp APS-C sensor may produce higher resolution/MTF numbers than a 24 mp FF. See Lenstip lens reviews and FAQ for all kinds of information of MTF resolution numbers and how they vary by sensor and pixel density.


So the d90 produce higher resolution than the D600?  I'm sorry I don't follow.  All I know is that I can take an average consumer lens like the Tamron 24-135mm f/3.5-5.6 and it looks great in the center on my D600.  If I use that same lens on a DX cam, it might have better corners wide open, but other than that the FX kills it.
