This study makes quite interesting reading, not the least because my country won!

It seems that the concept of freedom is actually fairly poorly understood by many people, it is also interesting that countries traditionally seen as an example of holding 'freedom' ideals are actually steadily sliding down the list.

Having great wealth is not necessarily an indicator of real freedom, I'm broke and I feel free as a bird!

I can only speak from personal experience...because on a psychological level...that's all an individual can form a position on.

I have always felt "more free" in Europe...than here in North America.

I would have to say that the UK is the 'free-ist" place (for want of a better word)...that I have ever lived in. France, Germany, very much so too. Canada is also up there...altho, it is somewhat "regulated" at the social level compared to European nations.

America is the least free nation (with regard to daily social stuff and how I felt there)...that I have lived and worked in.  It has too many little (visible) social rules n regs....and with the somewhat abrasive-aggressive "edge" this leads to a less relaxed/calm and psychologically free experience.

Let's put it this way. I felt less "at ease" whilst living in the USA...than the other countries in which I have resided...and that includes Israel.

This is not an anti-USA rant here...I'm just saying it exactly just how it was for me.
