Good luck with your decision, but FWIW, for a number of years after I moved out of film (I am a number of years older than you), I purchased a series of small digital cameras..finally ending up with an Oly XZ-1. It's a great little camera, but with significant limitations.
After playing with a friend's D7000 with the kit 18-200 I decided that if I was prudent about what I carried I could catch, see and even perhaps photograph scenes, things and places that would not be possible with a smaller, limited system.
Clearly, the M4/3 format has strengths as well as weaknesses, which I am sure you have thought out....I would just gently suggest that you explore your expectations and compromises.
Bottom line..have fun. : )
