Looking for critique, Im losing faith if photography is for me.

The problem with a lot of these photos is you're not paying enough attention to the light. Sun and shadow create a problem for cameras. Things in the shadows aren't as bright as our brain might think they are. Before you take a photograph, squint your eyes so that you can judge just how dim the shadow areas are. Blue casts tend to be very unpleasant. Very cold and uninviting. Anything in the shadows will tend to have a blue cast. Warming it up certainly gives a photo a much more pleasant feel.



In this photo, most of the landscape is in the shade. The camera is exposing for the sky, and this leaves the rest of the photo looking rather underexposed and dingy. I've used a more complex technique to hold the sky and brighten up the landscape. Using the Shadow/Highlight in Photoshop is another way of opening up the shadows while keeping the detail in the sky. A graduated neutral density filter on your lens is another way of deepening the sky while getting a better exposure of the landscape at photo time and this is the optimal solution. Another solution is to take more than exposure and blend them. The result doesn't have to be obviously blended. You can keep it subtle and natural. Now you can see this is not a bad shot. It's just that the light is difficult. As you get more experience, you'll be able to see these potential problems.

The tree in the middle is a little bit, well, in the middle. You should have tried moving a little to right to get more of the largest tree on the far right and put the middle tree off centre. There's not much to write home about on the far left. Sometimes these ideas simply don't work and you may have the best solution here. But its fun to experiment!
