I have the opportunity to purchased an EOS 1D Mark III in supposedly excellent condition for around $1,300...should I be leary of any possible AF problems that have been so widely discussed since that particular 1D model came out? It's a buy "as is" deal...really stuck between "yes" and "no"...

It all depends on what you want it for and what you already have, etc.

If you want a fast, weather sealed body for sports or wildlife, can live with 10 MP and have EF lenses it's a great camera. I've not had any AF problems.

I chose it over a 7D for those uses. Also is a decent landscape camera with a 17-40 due to better bracketing capabilities, built in eyepiece cover, etc.

On the other hand if you've got an extra $2,000 for a Mark IV, that would be even better.
