B&W conversions

These are a couple pictures that I had that were pretty much just blaugh. I thought a little b&w treatment might spice them up a notch. My question is did these turn out alright in your eyes, or is it just to much? I used LR4 and silver efex pro. These are the first I have tried to convert and before I think I am doing something right just want to get input before I develop bad habits!!
