Nice shots I think the second one is my favorite, I love the name "chickadees" does that mean small bird or is it a actuall species?

Here in the uk we get a big variation of the Tit family & your "chickadees" often look like a great tit, coal tit or a long tailed tit but I dont think we get anything like the one you have captured so well in your photos,

I got a bit obsessed with trying to capture some images before christmas & have included a shot of our Blue Tit & our Great Tit, Jon.

Thanks bluemoon, I think the blue one is lovely!!! Great shot of a beautiful bird. We get the most drab of all the chickadees where I live, pretty rare to see, also. As Ranlee writes later, the name comes from their call, "chickadee-dee-deee"!

Sorry ysal I have been away from the thread for a while but thanks for the info, My family think I am going bonkers as I have started calling the small birds Chickadees as I love the name,

I feed the birds through the winter & can get quite close to most Tits, Robins, Sparrows etc but its funny how you really want to capture the shy birds like the Jays, doves, woodpeckers etc that fly away as soon as they catch a glimps of movement,

I was sat outside in the snow today trying to get some more bird shots & could here something behind me all the time rustling in the leaves & twigs,

Eventually I turned around to see what I first thought was a very long Rat running along the path but as it turned around it had quite a cute face & a long white belly, my guess was a Stoat but looking on the net its probably a Weasel which is a first spot for me I just wish I could have got a photo before it shot off,

I have included a couple of shots taken today of a robin & a long tailed Tit which I have not yet done any pp or cropping on so they are straight out of the camera,

All the best, Jon.
