When people start calling YOU names they have fun out of arguments? You've been calling me names on multiple threads - But hey, that's ok, it's not someone else.

As I said before, you are the thief crying robbery.

They do have a slightly lower homicide rate per 100,000 than Australia but not by much, 0.7 vs 1.2 per 100,000.

Right - About half.

Yes, without doubt Switzerland has lower crime rate than Australia. But if you take a look at UNODC's study, in 2010 Switzerland ranked only 16 in terms of intentional murder rate per 100,000.  UNODC Intentional murder rate by country

Click the column title to sort it, take a look at the top 15, I think all of those are having lower firearms ownership rate than Switzerland.  In fact there are a lot of examples to show tight firearms control has been very successful - Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Japan etc.  So I can argue that Switzerland's firearms murder rate can only come down if they have less firearms.

Take a look at the ranking by region as well.  Oceania and Asia, where most countries exercise tighter firearms control, have a lowest murder rate as a whole.

Yes, isn't it time that you and other Americans really think about why Switzerland has a much lower firearms related homicides and accidents despite their very high gun ownership?

Oh I have. They commit people who are mentally disturbed. They have ten time the per capita number of hospital beds.

Dave

Is that the only reason? Think again. You are deceiving yourself.
I think it is more related to the loopholes in the background check, the ease of buying/selling/transfer, and the very casual and irresponsible manner of people treating their lethal weapons.
