D800 focus with 1.4 prime lenses is very variable and inaccurate

yep, mine behaves even worse sometimes. These pictures are taken yesterday, lots of light....but no pics in focus.

even my freakin' D5100 could focus correctly!!!..not to mention my old D300 or my friends D600.

I will send this camera one more time to service tomorrow but i don't think this issue can be resolved (camera was in service one more time back in May for Left-AF issues..almost fixed).

Yep, same issue. Lots of light but guess what. Not enough contrast for the D800 to focus correctly. I am starting to get more depressed about this now. That second image is out by a mile, I can see it at that size it's that bad, your shutter is fine, AF point is in the right place, she's static by looks of it, and even if you moved, it would be more in focus if the D800 worked correctly in this situations.
