This can be a circular discussion as most people in this thread have decided not to use the 25-50x FL mm rule .. but again yes what you say is absolutely correct if people strictly speaking follow the 25-50x rule and you have a variable maximum aperture etc

What I am trying to reach here is some consensus as to validity and reliability of the fine tuning with regards to using primes at different apertures/distances and zooms at different focal lengths + apertures + distances ..

There is so much written about it that is neither practical, valid nor reliable, except for the fine tuning value decided under the test conditions .. i.e. for that aperture, FL and focusing distance and even for that light and contrast etc .. is this fair to say ?
