The top ten list from nonpartision Legatum Institute.

1. Norway
2. Denmark
3. Sweden
4. Australia
5. New Zealand
6. Canada
7. Finland
8. The Netherlands
9. Switzerland
10. Ireland

I had a hard time to find one on the list that is NOT a "socialist", "income redistribute", "tax and spending" and "godless" country according to out right wing friends. Perhaps those are not bad things after all.

I'm sure this has nothing whatsoever to do with the result. Nothing. Nevertheless, I can't help but notice that the gargantua on that list has a population of about 10 percent of the U.S. Most are in the 2-3 percent range.

But the United States isn't really one country, is it? It is a Federation of States... many of which are indeed much less populous than countries on the list.

Wonder how the list comes out if you work that view into it?

Yes.

Hmmm... I wonder how prosperous and content Louisiana would be considered to be, in global terms? How about Minnesota, say? Or even Utah? Oregon would do OK, I should think.

With regard to the constitutions of the countries in the above list, note that 8 out of 10 are modern monarchies in their own right, or share a sovereign with Great Britain.
