Metabones Canon Adapter - electrical contacts in cold weather
4 months ago

Hi All,
Over the past few month or so, whenever I have taken my NEX 5n out in cold weather, the Metabones adapter I have (version II) fails to make a connection with any Canon lens.

It doesn't have to be severe cold, anywhere below 5 degrees C seems to do it. The aperture reading is "F--" and no matter what I do it wont communicate with the lens. I've cleaned the contacts thoroughly (both sets - camera/adapter and adapter/lens) and tried all kinds of things when out in the field with no luck.

Only when it is inside again does it connect with no problem. I dont think its condensation as I have dried and cleaned the contacts multiple times when out. I also think the contact is pretty good as the pins on the metabones adapter have actually started to etch grooves into the metal contacts of the lens.

Anyone experience anything similar? Cheers.
