Anyone else want a written manual?
Jan 21, 2013

A few days in with new FZ200. First pics, very pleasing. Wonderful lens. However...only a minimal manual to get started and the real manual - 220 pages, is on a CD. This seems like a cheapskate  approach. I can't understand why a company as big and rich as Panasonic would force their customers to have to print their own manual. What does this do for their reputation? With the quantities required it must cost them 50 cents a manual. How do other people feel? How many other camera companies are pulling the same stunt. Sure we can print out a manual but if you do it on a home printer you are left with how to bind it. 220 pages makes a thick book, too big for all but an industrial stapler.

It is wonderful to see the waves of technology bringing forth new ideas and abilities, but a written manual was always a good idea. Lets not throw out the good ideas to make an extra 50 cents a camera.
