My system

I guess I didn't figure out the organizational capabilities of LR. I like to bring mine in with whatever program I am using with the date and a description. These are actually temporary folders by date. Eventually the photos go into my category folders, i.e., Brackenridge Park, Hill Country, Cats - Sasha, Bill, Bike Stuff, work, cousins, Christmas 2005, wedding - Cathy, flowers - blue, flowers - yellow, etc. and if "flowers - blue" gets too large, I want the option of some day creating a flowers - blue 2 folder. I don't generally go to my photos by date except right after I take them. And I don't see that LR lets me put my photos where I want them because my understanding is that it keeps some attachment to these or keeps a copy of changes I've made. I duplicate my originals in PS and don't need LR keeping track of any changes. If I could buy it with just the tools and nothing else, that would be great. But a whole lot of programs now want to do too much for my needs. I understand that a pro or a more serious amateur needs that capability. I don't do batches of photos. I like to do them individually because I don't have any deadlines and I like processing as much as I like taking the photos.
Thanks again to everyone.
