I read this book: http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Creative-Lighting-System-Flashes/dp/1933952997.
It is OK. Somewhat dry. The best part is the last chapter about use cases.
Then you read this book to take it to the next level: http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Shoe-Diaries-Light-Flashes/dp/0321580141
And believe me, this book is fun to read.
