I'm in a quandary; I bought a NEX 6 with the kit lens. However, I'm not too impressed with the low light results. I'm now considering the RX100 as a compliment to the 6 for low light indoor photography, e.g., museums where flash photography is not permitted. We have a few once in a lifetime trips coming up and I want my bases covered.

Can someone please suggest a lens that I can purchase for the 6 that will accomplish what I want with the RX100? I don't need another pocket size camera as I already own a Canon S90 and a Canon X260, but if the consensus is purchasing the RX is a better alternative then loading up on more lenses, it is what it is.

Thanks in advance for all feedback.

I've got the RX100 and 5R (previously 5N which I sold after I bought the RX100).  Using the kit lens on the NEX, the RX100 won't fare that much worse in high ISO shots because of the much faster lens.  The RX100's aperture is f1.8 - f4 from 28mm to about 75mm, even all the way out at 100mm you're at f4.9.  The NEX kit lens you're at f3.5 - f5.6 at 28-82mm.  Meaning if you had to go to ISO6400 on the NEX you can get away with 3200 on the RX100.

Not sure how critical you are of noise, but these are couple of shots taken from my RX100, jpeg straight out of camera.  Both ISO6400.

I can squeeze the 5N with 18-55 in my normal sized jeans pocket, so the RX100 is highly pocketable.
