This is a true, legit issue, and has been an issue ever since D3. D3s was really AF-limited rather than ISO limited. I've had D3, D3s, D800e and all have suffered from this. I've shot at least 50 000 shots with these cameras and I still cannot predict the conditions that the AF inaccuracy happens. Sometimes it nails shots with ease, and sometimes it is painful even in good light while using an ND filter (still using ISO 100 though). AF-S 24mm 1.4G was a real PITA, I had to use contrast detect AF in live view to get accurate shots.

This is bad.
