Would you mind posting the full image screen shots with focus points? That would be most helpful.

The first image is the full, the second is the crop in each post. Sorry I use Lightroom, it does not show focus point location, and the af point was perfectly over the face in both, using the centre point, I have reviewed this on the d800 screen. You obviously do not believe me and that is fine, but I know what I am dealing with here.

I am just trying to recreate what you did to see if there might be an alternate to camera error. If the first shot is the full frame, you used the center point, and you did not focus an recompose, I don't see how the focus point could have been on the child's face. ViewNX2 is free and will show you the focus points. That would be very helpful for the users here to help you address this issue.

Lol you will not be able to fix this. But yes my mistake, first is af point from central area of cross type, and so is second. I have tried with centre point and it is the same problem. All of the cross sensor points still do it.
