i moved from a pistol grip to the acratec GP-s and am happy - took a while to get used to it...
has many knobs - i almost lost my d800e / zeiss 15 2.8 some 100 ft over the mississippi river when i grabbed the wrong knob and the camera came loose while on the tribod while it was set agains the bridge guard rail - see if you can get a release lever for the mount
