AE/AF Lock Button - should I be using it?

Hey guys,

I am in the process of getting familiar with my V1, and I will admit I have never used the AE/AF lock button (on this camera or my previous DSLR):-| (oops?).

Anyway, I have read the manual and realise that it is used to lock the exposure and focus - and you use this button when the shutter release button is half depressed. Should I be using it? I shoot mainly landscapes, buildings, my dogs and flowers etc....

Up until now I have just pressed the shutter button half-way, recomposed the shot and then pressed the shutter button the remainder to take the photo. Am I doing things wrong?
