Pardon my bumping, but yes, that's what I've been saying on other threads.

As for geoson's comment:

"I dont see why fuji has to kill the x series bridge. All they have to do is add the xtrans cmos sensor from the x20 and the cpu to the body of a x-s1, and rebadge it x-s2."

The hs50 it's basically that with an 1/2 instead of 2/3, so no point about it.

Superzoom and bridges may share size, but not performance.

Ideal XS-2 would be (for me) 16Mp 1" X-Trans II 25-250mm (or even 300, but no more than that) f 2-4, same OVF as XE-1 and digital split focusing as x100s.

There IS a place for bridges on the X series, but it must be chosen very well:

Compact P&S: F series

competes against: mass consumer compacts > smartphone camera

Price range: 200-350 USD

Superzooms: S series:

Competes against: Nikon P510, SX50 and the like

Price range: 250-400 USD

Premium superzoom: HS series

Competes against: Nikon P510, SX50, FZ200 and the like

Price range: 300-550 USD

Premium compact A: X series (X10, X20...)

Competes against: Oly XZ-1&2, Pana LX-7 and maybe RX100, Nikon 1 system and lower end m4/3

Price range: 500-600 USD

Bridge: XS series

Competes against: middle level m4/3 or dSLR equipped with a good quality zoom lens in the range of around 20-300mm

Price range: 600-900 USD

Premium compact B: X series (X100, X100s...)

Competes against: RX1, high end m4/3 or APS-C with wide angle primes, DP merril.

Price range: 1000-1200 USD

ILC: X series (Xpro1, XE-1)

Competes against: high end m4/3 or APS-C ILC

Price range (with kit lens): over 1400 USD

"I dont see why fuji has to kill the x series bridge. All they have to do is add the xtrans cmos sensor from the x20 and the cpu to the body of a x-s1, and rebadge it x-s2."  That part belongs to evogt.
