How new?

Have you shot with a long lens before - are these like some of your first shots? I don't mean to sound snotty here, so please don't take it that way!

There's a lot going on here, and the image looks bad all over, not just the ghosting. Even at around 1/200, there's still plenty of room for error as far as lens movement - even with IS turned on. F2.8 is not a very forgiving aperture either!

I'd try some shots in a better environment, where you're not moving and the same goes for your subject. When I got my first telephoto with stabilization, I thought it would compensate for a lot of stuff, which it didn't. It took me a few days to really start getting some good images out of it.

Normally with any new lens I'll do super-safe test shots first, just to be sure that I haven't introduced anything to the equation that could alter my results. Once you know you're getting sharp(ish) shots at all focal lengths, you can try more specific tests to see if you're getting any front or back focusing and adjust from there.

What camera?
