I believe a Canon 1D mark IV, coupled with one of Canon's faster-focusing lenses, would be adequate to get a fair number of keepers when photographing a child running towards the camera at a distance of less than 20 feet in a dimly lit room.

I've never used a Canon 5D mark III, but it seems the overwhelming consensus is that its autofocus system is better than the one in the 1D mark IV.

I don't know how well any of Canon's other new bodies would do.
