Do camcorders suffer a "shutter life" as DSLRs do?

As the title says, ? I imagine the shutter opens and closes as most camcorders take photos, maybe not, but what about video also? Is the life of a camcorder determined by sensor death, or another factor? Anybody use multiple camcorders till they die, is there a common cause?
