Without a flash, use auto iso and put in a minimum shutter speed based on your experience to get sharp images. With BB I would chose at least 1/200, but the faster you get the better it works. Check out if max iso 6400 works in that light, but you may go as much as hi.7 without too much problems for web purposes only.
i kind of go the other way around, once the sun sets. i know i'm gonna be wide open on my lens (f/2.8) and i know i'm gonna be at max ISO (6400 on D700), so i want my camera to give me was much shutter speed as possible. so i shoot in aperture priority. on most school fields, i get about 1/500th to 1/1000th on those settings. if it drops below 1/250th, i can go into the HI ranges, but i've never had to.
