Thanks to point me to the samjstern post, Clivegriff, I missed it; I can see there are similar settings to the ones I’m using now.
When I had the D7000 there were several useful messages in the DX-Forum, like the one initiated by Ray Soares followed by a long thread, plenty of tips and examples regarding the D7000, here: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/37815130
Some of the D7000 best working settings also work for me in the D600, but there are significant differences between cameras, and maybe better options still to find out.
