Diagonal - the forgotten resolution?
|
By "resolution" in this thread, I mean sensor resolution in terms of the spacing between pixels.
People tend to think only in terms of pixel pitch, or lines per picture height or, worse just plain MP, all of which are usually called just "resolution" without any qualification. Oops, I forgot "ppi" and "dpi" to name but a couple more.
Be that as it may, do any of us Foveonistas worry that the resolution of our beloved sensors is 41% worse in the 45 degree diagonal direction? That's right, just tilt your camera 45 degs to show a radiator grill artistically and your res. goes from, say, 5um to 7um. Horrors!
Just a thought, since resolution threads appear to be in fashion at present
