video quality and ease of use questions (Is this camera as bad as its reviews?)

Hello,

My wife is looking for a new camera so she doesn't have to lug around my d7000.

Will the J2 take good video? Does it have decent depth of field in video mode?

Does it auto focus in video mode?

Can any one persuade me to buy this camera to to take pics and vids of our kids?

I really dont want her to use her blackberry anymore for lifes cherished moments..
