D300s AF fine tuning is meaningless

Hi Guys,
I have just purchased Nikon 24-70 2.8G.
I "feel" that most of photos are out of focus (front focus) so I have decided to try the "do it your self" AF tuning with the 45 degree angle test page, tripod, remote, etc.
I have set my camera to aperture priority, 2.8, max zoom (70MM) and did some shooting at +20/-20/00 AF fine tuning (and yes - I have verified settings have been saved).
Main concern - Zero difference between the photos
Ok, so I have tried camera reset (using the green button), though I have re-defined +20/-20 - I saw that most camera settings remain untouched (for example - custom shooting/setting menus).
I did notice quality and issue setting have been reset to ISO 200, normal Jpeg compression, size priority, etc (so reset was actually performed).
Ok, now what...?
If reset is not fully reset, and AF tuning has no impact - would you consider my camera is defective, or it is almost un-noticeable.
Is there any real hard reset to the camera other than the 2 green buttons? perhaps something is stuck and requires a real reboot
Please suggest.
10x,
Goldschmidt, Shay.
