Good points Paul and lovely shot of the Sandgrouse!

When using the 800mm f5.6 in limited light do you miss f4. I currently would with my existing DSLR.

Cheers,
Ray

Ray, I do miss f/4, but my confidence in the higher ISOs on the Canon 1D bodies is growing (ISO 1600 is the new ISO 400), the IS (VR) on the new lenses is superb and at dawn and dusk I am more likely to use support (mono/tripod) so it isn't crippling my low light shooting. I would think it would be exactly the same with the Nikon 800.

Happy photography,

Thanks for the reply Paul!

I was out shooting some this morning and a fellow photog with the new Canon 600mm IS showed up and wow what a beautiful lens.  It felt light as a feather compared to my Nikon 600mm VR.  I'm seriously, thinking of selling off all my Nikon gear.

Cheers,
Ray
