60D and Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS good enough For Sports Photography?

So I'm about to pick up a 60D body. My intent is to shoot my kids sports events. My thought was to go with or rent a 70 -200 F2.8. However I guess I want to ask. Will a Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS get the job done or will I not see many keepers with this lens?
