Did you try at F2.8 as well? Just curious since I saw at ephotozine and it seems that the lens sharpens up at 2.8.

I'm new here, but have been using a NEX-5n since spring and I'm currently curious about the 35 mm. I have the Sigma 30 mm which I use most of the time. It's really sharp but because it's on the camera almost all the time there are two things I'm missing that the 35 could help with.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a Sigma 30mm f/2.8 as well and is also looking for an upgrade.

But it appear that Sony 35mm f/1.8 must be down to F2.8 to achieve any level of decent sharpness.....then what is the point?

OSS alone is not worth $450, and F/1.8 isn't all that sharp.

I agree. I have the Sigma 30mm, and was hoping the Sony 35mm was good at 1.8. I won't spend another $450 on top of the cost of the Sigma just to get OSS.
