Hmm... something doesn't seem right. Credit Jeff at dcresource for these 100% crops, LX7 on the left, ZS20 on the right. The ZS19 is the ZS20 without the GPS. Same performance. The LX7 should not look considerably worse. Are you getting better results with more shooting/testing?

Hi, Gary,
This exact picture, and the brick wall Paramount Theatre wall on Steve's Digicam's site......:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/panasonic/lumix-dmc-lx7/P1060094.JPG
..........were what convinced me to give the LX a try. I wanted to see for myself, now I have.
In actual practice, with my own test scene, I find the difference too small to worry about, and I actually prefer the ZS19 image - it is "crisper" call it "oversharpened" or whatever, it is visually more appealing to me. Even though I never sharpened it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, for the record: If you have to look that hard to see a difference, the difference is negligible; there really is no difference.
SO, IMHO - and for MY use, MY "humble opinion" is all that counts, there isn't a dime's worth of difference at wide settings, and the LX can't even start on long settings, plus the price & form factor, the ZS19 is the better camera. No contest.
Of COURSE "YMMV"
YMMV? You bet it does!
Eric, can you not see that the image on the right is distinctly inferior to the one on the left in sharpness terms? The difference is considerable. The LX7 image is very much better.
To see what I'm seeing, click on "original size" under the twin image above. When it loads into a new tab, click on it again with the + cursor to bring it up to 100% (- cursor appears).
Now view the enlarged image and compare. Take particular note of the word "police" on the 'phone box.
If you cannot see the difference for yourself, we must assume there is something wrong with your viewing conditions...... [???]
