Spot on!

but, your first post was a bit inane:

"I'll just state the obvious that cropping is post-processing, and your posted "original" images look like they were saved at a very low quality level, especially the third photo. The first photo is out of focus."

That was the ENTIRE point of this thread - the first WAS out of focus, and I was asking for the reason which presumably LX7 users might know.

Turns out there WAS a setting problem: the little slider 'switch' on the left side of the lens mount, which reads: MF, AFmacro, and AF was in "MF" or "Manual Focus" position.

Not being used to the controls - silly me - I thought that the "AF/AE lock" button on the back, AND the "Manual Focus" lever just below the hotshoe were all the controls messing with focus.

I'm still not sure why a special switch was incorporated - If I were designing in a "Manual Focus" override, I'd have let the camera do it's thing and then use the "Focus" lever for touch-up.

Aside from the fact that "Manual focus on a 4.7mm (actual, not the "24mm equivalent") lens is a joke, using several different physical controls for it is overkill.

Maybe read the manual and go over all your settings? The sooc jpegs of this camera are very sharp for me.

Yeah, read the manual. Good call, except, IN THE MANUAL, the search "Manual Focus" yields this:

Just what I would have thought. And NO mention of that sneaky little switch on the lans.

'Nuff said, I really do appreciate the many attempts to help solve the problem.
