IS on a 35mm lense used to photograph people at events (still-image)

Context: IS on a 35mm lense used to photograph people at events (still-image)

IS can help make a distant background sharp, while flash illuminate a close subject sharply.

Even if there is motion blur in people, that could be just what the photographer wanted, and a sharp background can be desirable at the same time.

Even though you experts may be able to hand-hold such a lense at 1/30 s sufficiently sharp 9/10 or 99/100 times, IS may make them even sharper, or be enough to make it 10/10 times.

IS helps the autofocus and can improve viewfinder experience.
