What's with your " ... that cracks me up ... " sh*t anyway? I don't know where you live, but the urban messenger style bag is so ubiquitous nowadays - anywhere you go - just nobody gives them a second glance ... certainly 'aint the targets you imagine.
To be honest, your comments ("men just don't carry bags around unless they have something worth carrying"... the emphasised 'manbag' ..) sounds like something out of the 1970's ... the old redneck to hippie jibe "... only faggots carry handbags ... ".

Calm down, friend. I don't think he meant it in the way you're taking it. Manbag is a very common term and he likely just emphasised it to distinguish it from other bags men may carry such as backpacks and slings. No need to start swearing and throwing insults around.
Anyway, his point is right. Usually if a guy has a manbag it's because there's something valuable inside. Just like thieves will grab a woman's handbag and run for it, you can bet they'll try the same on your manbag regardless of how nondescript it looks if they get the chance. Been on the receiving end of such behaviour myself, sadly.
