You should care about what you care about...

You already know there's no real answer anyone can supply that you yourself aren't ultimately in control of making.  You already know the reasons people like video, you already enjoy looking at well-made video, and you already admitted that you just haven't been drawn to do it yourself.  You either do, or you don't.  The only way to know would be to try, and see if it hooks you.  Not choosing to shoot video or not wanting to shoot video doesn't mean you are unskilled at it or have no experience with it - those could be true, but it also could be that you simply don't get any real pleasure out of shooting video, skilled or not.

I do not care about video on my cameras.  I have never used the video capabilities of any stills camera I've owned, except for accidental shots of my foot when I accidentally hit the video button.  And I still to this day have no interest in shooting video.  Now - I KNOW all of the wonderful things video can do - capture the movement, the action, the scene - put you into the sequence of events, move around a subject or place dynamically, provide narration, sounds and sights, etc.  I love watching a good video.  Video is a wonderful and excellent thing...I just don't want to shoot it myself.  So clearly you can like and have interest in video, while still not wanting to shoot video.

I actually spent fair portions of my life working in and around the entertainment industry - I've worked on music video, short film, theatrical film, and event video.  I've actually shot several short movies, events, and done video editing and film editing.  When I lived in California I was working in the film industry in several guises.  I KNOW video, and know how to film it and edit it. And when I was getting paid to do it, I did my job.  But I never really *loved* it - I didn't really enjoy the process...I had no passion for working in video.  And in fact, when I was no longer working in that industry, I found myself uninterested in shooting any more video.  At the same time, my interest in still photography had always been in me since I was 9 years old and got my first SLR.  And that passion was growing exponentially.  I constantly enjoy shooting still photography...I never tire of it.  I want to do it when I'm not doing it, and I'm loving doing it while I'm doing it.  And that's the difference for me.  It's not about not knowing what I'm missing, or not knowing how to do it, it's simply about not enjoying shooting video enough to make me want to do it.

But it doesn't mean I don't appreciate and enjoy video.  There are many things I enjoy in life despite not having any desire to be part of the creative process that gave it to me: baking, sewing, computer programming, model making, book writing...I don't want to do any of those things, but I still love a good cake, like a well made shirt, appreciate my computer, marvel at an amazing model, and love to read a good book!
