Refillables for Epson 2400 in the UK

My 2400 is about five years old. It produces lovely prints. I am not churning out dozens a day. I really don't want to swop it.

I've done the maths of using the standard Epson cartridges and the argument for moving to refillable third party cartridges is clear. I don't want to change to CIS for several reasons.

What are my options, living in the UK? I don't mind importing, but buying locally can have advantages.

So far I have looked at Marrutt and Lyson. The advantage of Marrutt is that their cartridges can be phased in whilst one uses up the Epson cartridges. With Lyson one has to change all the colours and that means that any unused Epson cartridges become wasted money.

I use Ilford Smooth Pearl all the time.

Marrutt sent me a test chart but compared with the same chart on my paper on my machine the differences are such that I would not want to change. The blacks are less black and the colours less vibrant. It could be a problem with the Marrutt Pro Satin Oyster that they used. Some sheets of the Ilford paper are on their way to Marrutt today.

If what comes back is as good as my Epson ink I'll move to Marrutt.

I suppose if what they send back is not as good as I am getting from Epson originals I can consider Lyson. Maybe it will be better (Marrutt claim it is) and have to accept the cost of throwing away some unused Epson cartridges.

What else is around in the UK? Permajet seem only to do CIS which I don't want.

I'm in email correspondence with Cone in the US but, as yet have not seen what his ink looks like on the Ilford stock.

All ideas and suggestions welcome.
