50mm: Nikon f1.8 / f1.4 or Sigma 50mm 1.4

I have the 1.4g as well. I have also owned the 1.8d & 1.4d and used both the Sigma 1.4 and the Nikon 1.8g

I think the 1.8g has good sharpness but is otherwise unimpressive to me. Not a bad lens, just nothing that makes me want one.

The 1.4g is a good all around lens. Good over all image quality.  It is small, optically good.

But. if I were to buy today I'd also get the Sigma instead due to superior bokeh.  It is large, heavy and IMHO a little overpriced.  But I love the bokeh it produces.
