Slow Sync speeds on Canons

I'm new to studio lighting with my Alien Bee and I have a couple of Elinchroms. I have just learned that the Speed Sync will only go to 1/125 before some shadowing starts. I was wondering is there anyway around this? I know with my flash it is higher but with the strobes not so much. I know this may sound dumb but is there any way to boost the sync speed? I would really appriciate some help. I have a 5D mark ii, is the mark iii any better when it comes to this issue? And if not why hasn't someone fixed this? I was informed in my class that Nikon has the speed of 1/200-250.

Thank you

Tracy
