For the OP.If you mount a D lens on your F5 and set it to f22 it will be closed down like the G lens. They will both work the same when you put the camera in P mode or A mode. In P the camera picks aperture and shutter in A you pick the aperture buy turning wheel on the F5. You cant use it in manual because there is no aperture ring to turn and will always be f22. You could use f22 by using high speed film and slow shutter speed maybe, but why would you.
