Aperture blades on SEL35f18 not fully retracting -- just my copy or is it really an f1.6 lens?

Interestingly, the Aperture value (Av) for an f number of 1.8 is 1.69599. In other words log2(1.8^2) = 1.69599!

It's mighty close to be a coincidence. My guess is that EXIF parameter is an Av rather than an f number.
