SX30 Washouts

I continue to have problems with my Canon SX30.A partly cloudy day today at a nature center, using AUTO mode, many zoom shots of birds. The zoom was fine but the photos appear"dull"

Has anyone had a similiar experience with this camera?

Any suggestions on a replacement....

A nice zoom shot, but colors appear "washed out"
