ham fisted and can't operate cameras with small, closely spaced buttons.

There are millions of compacts sold which are in the higher end, with several buttons scattered around their tinyish bodies.

Actually, not millions of pro-sumer high end compacts lilke the Nikon 7100-more like thousands.

nobody seems to complain..

Ham fisted people don't buy those cameras, they buy large dSLR's with lots of space between the buttons, external grips, etc..

but many people here complain about the tiny buttons on the OMD.

Actually, it is a tiny camera with closely space buttons.  Someone comming from a FF dSLR would find it cramped.  If they have big hands, or need to shoot in the cold with gloves on-close to inoperable.

Is it because they are coming from large bodied SLR's and they are having problems adapting ?

See above.

or are the buttons THAT SMALL ?

Not so much small, closely space and without tacktle feedback.

Seems to me you are complaining about complaining.

Always an interesting conundrum.
