SHORT BATTERY LIFE ON SONY RX100

For Christmas I treated myself to a Sony RX100.   Very happy with most aspects of the camera EXCEPT the battery life.

On Monday 14 Dec I charged both my batteries fully.   On Tuesday 15 Dec I did not take any photos.  On Wed 16 Dec I was about to take my first photo since the batteries were charged when BATTERY EXHAUSTED appeared on the rear screen.  I charged the Battery again for a couple of hours and showed FULL.   I then went out photographing wintery scenes and the battery expired after 60 (sixty) shots.  Total rubbish.

Has anyone else suffered from short battery life using their Sony RX100?
