Yes, contrast is dramatically sinking at the long end. Mine is a lemon : it is not able to focus at further distance when zoomed longer than 225-250mm. I sent it back to Panasonic support service, but they returned it saying it was inside of specification !  They have loose specifications to say the least.

Yest, it is good when used at shorter zoom values up to 200mm. But I won't put too much hope in using it at 300mm with the 2X digital zoom. but then I'm mostly a stills shooter, not a video shooter.

So  check your copy as soon as you get it, because I'm not the only one to have that problem At he long end.
