To Panasonic: The FZ-200 zoom is too 'jumpy

I have had my FZ-200 for about a month now, and it is really nice. It is well engineered, the controls take a little study but then seem pretty logical. Image quality is good, the low-light performance was an unexpected bonus. My previous camera was a D-80 and I did not feel like I was slumming with the FZ-200.
But.
There is one wart on the user interface for me. The zoom adjustment is too jumpy. It is difficult to use the zoom to micro-adjust the framing of a subject - I find myself zipping past the framing adjustment I need to make things right. The zoom buttons are too sensitive -- it seems to me that the lightest touch on one produces a substantial change in the zoom parameter. Fine adjustment of the framing is just tricky.
Do others agree with this? Is the zooming too "twitchy" for its own good?
The good news is that this is probably an easy fix for Panasonic to implement IF they want to do it. To me it's the one thing that makes operating this camera less than smooth and instinctive. I've been through most of the menu items, and adding one for "zoom speed" would be the right thing to do, probably in the Setup menu.
A fix for this situation could be part of the normal software upgrade cycle for this camera, and would be a really nice fix for this awkward area in an otherwise near-perfect camera, in my opinion.
